ZERO warning — srsly?

Hey!

My friend and Shrimp Club alum Brenna McGowan’s masterclass on launching happens today! More below.

I’m at the airport heading home from vacation, which is an oxymoron — because I’m so at home being on vacation. Why can’t I live this way, why?

They say build a life you don’t need a vacation from, but what kind of life is that except for one where you’re already on vacation?

That’s not to say I don’t love my work and my non-vacation life.

I do, especially when a launch goes well and brings in big bucks.

It’s harder to make that happen than it used to be, but still possible as long as you do it right.

By right, I mean not waiting until launch time to say boo about it and announcing out of the blue “It’s here! Doors are open!”

Makes me think of the little domestic flights we’ve taken in Europe lately. Aegean, Ryanair, etc. (Most are one step up from a public bus with wings.)

There's ZERO WARNING before boarding starts. You watch for the gate number, and as soon as it comes up on the digital screen, you run. Somehow, everyone else is already mobbing the boarding line, don’t ask me how they know. It might be a European sixth sense or something else I’m lacking. But it’s jarring and leaves me feeling like I survived a bear attack once I’m settled in my seat.

This is an imperfect analogy for launching, of course, as nobody’s rushing rushing your doors the second they open just because you suddenly announced it. Flight passengers are already paid up and hellbent on getting on that aircraft, especially if they need to score space in the overhead bin.

Whatever you’re launching? If you haven’t prepped us for the right amount of time and in the right way, we’re not lining up for your thing.

Nuh uh.

That’s why I’m so glad we have Brenna McGowan to show us exactly how to get people onboard and excited before your gates open.

Her masterclass happens today!

Hey — Earlier this year, I got an exciting message from Shrimp Club alum Brenna McGowan, who’s gearing up for her masterclass, “The New Launch Model for 2026” — where she’ll dish on what’s working now, and open doors to her Pre-Launch Plan Program. The news was about one of your fellow Shrimpers, Paddy Johnson: Of course I wanted the tea: How did the $300K compare to her previous income? And what did she do differently? I knew it had to do with pre-launching, obvi. Brenna had helped me with...

Hey Reader, I’m in Greece now, but my heart’s in NYC. Well, it’s in Greece, too. I wrote this from the airport lounge on Tuesday night, so no details of the trip to share but I wanted to send you my post about 9/11. It’s a light update of the blog post I wrote in 2011, when I couldn’t believe it had been ten years. Now, it’s an inconceivable quarter-century, and we’ve got a generation of grown-ass adults who weren’t even born yet. Maybe you’re one of them. I’ve been seeing memories of that...

Hey, remember 2018, when people practically had $2k ready in their fists for the moment a cart opened? No? Maybe you weren’t in “The Space” back then. If not, lemme tell you: launching a course, program, what-have-you was like doing a lemonade pop-up in the desert. These days, nahsomuch. Between the trust recession, too many marketers offering the same thing in the same f’ing AI-slop-y language (🤮), and soaring prices on gas and sirloin tips, those fists are tight. Instead of big saucer eyes,...
