Hey Reader, The first thing Kate Northrup said to me when I walked into the mastermind before her Relaxed Money Live event last week was: “Tell me about this Evergreen Cash Machine workshop you have coming up. It sounds so valuable.” Kidding. She said nothing of the sort, but I want you to know that I’ll be telling you about it at bottom, so keep reading. What she actually said was: “Oh my god, hiiiiii! I loved your email today about Amanda on Real Housewives!” Few things delight me more than when friends, or readers I’ve never met, refer back to my ridiculous emails. Kate doesn’t watch Real Housewives but knew who I was talking about because Amanda’s in “our” world (the online life-coach-business-coach-personal-development-spirituality-and-wellness-scale-from-six-to-seven-figures space, AKA “The Space”). Also, Kate’s expertise is money and Amanda bills herself as “The Money Queen.” Or, claims other people do. So their circles overlap even more. We gossiped quickly, I sat down, and then my friend Lisa Fraley walked in. As we hugged hello, she said, “Oh my god, I loved your email about Amanda on Real Housewives!” I had no idea she watched. Turns out she’s friends with the executive producer and is in deep. So much to discuss. But the mastermind was starting so we put a pin in it, to be continued throughout the event: ”Have you read her book?” “Oh, you know who we know who’s friends with her?” “What makes her so annoying is all the flexing about her income and being the breadwinner and how she makes her business her personality. So embarrassing." "Yes! That phone call about her website in the car in Sedona! We're not impressed." “How much do you love Rachel Zoe’s and Boz’s reactions? They are not having it.” “When she said that thing about her body experiencing the confrontation with Dorit as ‘a physiological attack’ and tried to sound all science-y? That’s how the body responds to stress, everyone knows that! It’s called evolution!” “What about when she said ‘When we bought our house, excuse me, when *I* bought our house — I'm the one who paid for it.’” “OH! And what about when she acted so shocked that Dorit hired a ghostwriter? ‘It never even occurred to me not to write my own book. I just sat down and wrote.’ THE NERVE.” By the third day, we were still going. Our friend Ruthie heard us and said, “No way, are you two talking about Beverly Hills?” She was so happy to join in. Ruthie is a somatic healer, pretty ensconced in the wellness world. So I wasn’t surprised when she told us, “I have nobody to talk to about these shows.” She said her friends scold her for watching: “Real Housewives shows are so low vibe.” Seriously? Oy, go play with your dream catchers. She’d been to a meditation retreat where someone confessed, “I even used to watch those Real Housewives shows.” Gasp. Can you imagine? The low-vibe-acity! Good thing they’ve been saved. How can something be “low vibe,” we asked rhetorically, when it makes us so happy to talk about it? And this is why — or, at least, part of why — I’ve always been icked out by the light-and-love sphere. It’s why, even though I’ve long been interested in personal transformation and even (shhh) manifesting, I’ve identified for years as Woo-Adjacent. It’s why I keep putting quotes around “spiritual journey” even though I’ve become genuinely interested in spirituality. Deeming a cultural treasure like Real Housewives “low vibe” (a term I had to explain to Steven, who rolled his eyes so hard they almost didn’t come back to center) is what makes the whole scene so repellent to me. Don’t watch Bravo? Don’t like? That’s fine. But there’s a type who thinks anything with conflict, with people yelling and occasionally throwing wine at each other over a lavish tablescape, is an assault to the nervous system and one’s “capacity to hold space for blessings” or some shit like that. I like people who can hold space for all of it. Enlightenment and trashy TV. How about this: enlightenment through trashy TV? Luckily, my welcome sequence filters out those Judgy Judys and instantly connects with the ones who are MY vibe. The people who connect with you are the ones most likely to buy from or want to work with you. And they’re the ones you want to serve, of course. Win-win. You have my Welcome Sequence Workshop to help you put one together. (If you haven’t yet, go dive in.) And…if you have a masterclass with a pitch or plan to, here’s the next email automation you need to create: A high-converting webinar showup sequence! I’m going to walk you through mine next week, when I present my brand new training, Evergreen Cash Machine. It’ll teach you how to launch all year round without actually launching. Special one-time price for you, a Welcome Sequence Workshop alum: $199 Price later: $299 And now, back to the Peacock app. There’s a new episode of RHOBH, and Amanda’s Amanda-ing! I pray she stays. My higher self is counting on it. xoLaura PS - When I talk about “Amanda,” I’m talking about her persona on a reality show, not necessarily her real-life personality. Sometimes they’re different. Sources tell me New Jersey’s Theresa Giudice, of table-flipping fame, is a lovely person. That said, I’ve never heard the same about Ramona Singer. And BTW, I have boots-on-the-ground reporting that PK is a true con man. PPS - At some point last year I was thinking I should make my emails short and to the point. A teeny bit of story, then right to the offer. This year, I decided f that, I’ve gotta be me. Otherwise, what are we doing here? PPPS - At the event, I heard no fewer than five people say, “I wouldn’t have a business if it weren’t for Marie Forleo.” She can help you build yours, or make your current one a dream business, starting tomorrow. I don’t understand astrology or put much stock in it, except that I identify strongly as a Scorpio because I’m obsessive and I notice I get along very well with Libras. (My husband being one.) Also, gotta believe in moon phases. They control the tides! That’s powerful stuff. I can’t control the sink sprayer. And, as I’m on my new “Woo Journey,” I’m open to whatever. So I was intrigued when I heard from my intuition coach, Deb Driscoll, that today marks a big event up in the galaxy. Aries,...
Hey Reader, On my morning stop into Citarella, I had a good laugh at this candy: Excuse me: “LOVE CANDY AGAIN”?? Who the f needs help to "love candy again"? I could use help NOT loving sugar, or loving to lift weights. I used to fantasize that I'd magically wake up craving kale all the time. I still wish I’d magically become crazy for paperwork. And I desperately wanted to fall back in love with my very nice, funny boyfriend in the late 90s. But falling out of love with candy is not an issue...
