Hey! We writing together today? If you haven’t signed up for this Shrimpers-only live writing sesh with Terri Trespicio at 3pm ET, get on it. Now then — Every once in a while, I get an email reply from a Shrimper who admits they haven’t bought anything — like this one, who calls himself a “freeloader” and seems to think he’s out of place as a Shrimper. First of all, not “my demographic”? Here’s what I wrote back: And second — would I love for everyone who subscribes here to buy something, even if it’s just my lowest-priced offer? You bet. That’d make me an absolute fortune. Not private-island money, maybe, but F-U money for sure. And it would help everyone who bought to write better copy. That said, I know you’ve probably subscribed to douchey, bro marketers who trash-talk “freeloaders” and want you to buzz off if you’re not buying anything, in the spirit of the guy at my corner magazine store who gives you shit for browsing: “This is not a library.” Well, F that. Whether you purchase my courses and programs or not, if you’re reading this (which you are) that means just as much to me. Well, almost. And you’re doubly valuable to me if you write back. I love sending out an email and then seeing a lineup of “Re: [subject line]” replies in my inbox. It keeps me going. Either way, I would never think of you as a “freeloader.” A freebie hunter/hoarder? Maybe. I’m one too. But you’re giving me your attention, and that’s everything. So, thank you. And btw, if you do feel the urge to pay me a little something, you can become a paid subscriber to my Substack, Woo Adjacent with Laura Belgray. I just posted about my “meditation journey.” Read it here. xoLaura Psst! Since you're signed up to get my emails on a weekly basis, here's what you missed this week!
Love Shrimp Mail? Forward this to a friend so they can get in on the action and sign up below.

"Yours are the only emails I actually open and read" - a regular reply in my inbox since 2009...and I'll bet in yours, too, once you subscribe and learn by pure, lazy osmosis to become the most compelling writer around. That said, no promises on improving your moral character.
Hey! Since I got back from Greece, I’ve been very busy…planning the next trip to Greece. I’m obsessed. I can’t explain it in any way that doesn’t sound hackneyed — being in that water makes me feel alive. Is it a water-sign thing (Scorpio)? A back-in-the-womb thing? Actually, scratch that. I’m now picturing a trauma-healing water ritual they did on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip (RHONY Legacy) where the women were each cradled by a practitioner while floating like fetuses in their...
Hey! To paraphrase a TV commercial for Automobile Club of America that my husband loves to quote, “Brenna McGowan, did you have to be that good?” Here’s why: Because I promoted my friend and Shrimp Club alum Brenna’s Pre-Launch Plan Program (PPP) last round, I thought I’d make life easy and repurpose a March email telling you doors are open. Just when I was about to do that, Brenna sent me some new results that blow away the ones I cited last time. Dammit, Brenna! They come from her client...
Hey, so, I went to the DMV yesterday to renew and upgrade my driver’s license. I was nearly as nervous walking into License Express on West 30th Street as I am before I get mic’d to go onstage before 1500 people. A Real ID was the goal so I could use it for domestic flights instead of my unwieldy passport that somehow NEVER opens to the photo page, but not worth sweating. The urgent part is that my license is about to expire — and if it does, I’ll have to take the driver’s test again. Despite...
