Not a sweater defuzzer

Hey hey —

I’ve never sent “last chance” emails for Shrimp Club before, because I didn’t think anyone waited till the last possible second to make that kind of investment.

It’s not exactly an item you grab at the Target register, like a sweater defuzzer.

But this year, as I’ve had Shrimp Club veteran and copywriting/marketing star Kevin Oberhausen conduct interviews with current and past members, I’ve discovered something:

Turns out, Shrimp Club is sometimes a (semi-) impulse purchase.

Alex Darby, who’s coming back for a second round (your round, if you join), said,

“I thought, you know what?
If not now, when? So I just signed up there and then.”

Shrimp Club had been on her radar for a while, but she didn’t think she would apply.

“I did the back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

It's quite a big investment. Will I have the time? You know, all the sensible questions. I'd followed Laura for years, and then never really thought I would [join].”

Of the day she did apply, she says:

“I woke up really early in the morning…and an email popped. I had a moment of... I just need to do this, because otherwise I'll talk myself out of it.”

What switched?

“I had a moment of, ‘I want to do something so different. I want to be part of something really different.

“‘No longer want to be part of the echo chamber crap or... people who have no direction.’ I felt like I had loads of direction, but nowhere to kind of point it. So that's why I did it. I did really have one of those moments.”

If this email just popped for you and you’re having one of those moments, I hope you’ll follow the nudge and apply.

We start this Tuesday with a welcome party, and then our hot seat calls begin the following Tuesday.

As I mentioned in this morning’s email, you’re guaranteed a 10-15-minute hot seat every month.

Applications close at 6pm ET. Not midnight, mind you — 6.

Want in? Apply now.

It’s far more dough than a sweater defuzzer, but can a sweater defuzzer really change your life?

Shrimp Club can.

Hope to see you in there if it’s right for you.

Three disturbing AI food images: a tuna sandwich with a spongy, hole-riddled bun and frosting-like piped tuna, shrimp-shaped "donuts" on raw instant ramen, and a fast food burger ad piled with glossy, unidentifiable toppings arranged too perfectly.

Imagine a swarm of blowhards claiming they were “just here to add value” — and then that “value” was a ten-minute recitation of their CV… …Or a feature-film-length tale of how they were an aimless, dead-broke sad sack...

I just listened to Amy Porterfield’s interview with Ryan Levesque, who — talking about people’s craving for real, human creative work over AI slop — led with the premise, “It’s never been harder to stand out.” Beg to differ. Not with the part...
