You’ll never unsee this tuna sandwich

Pssst! Last 2 days to join my 8-week live mentoring party/mastermind Shrimp Club!

That’s what I’ll be talking about until the deadline tomorrow, Friday, so if you’d rather not hear about it, here you go: DON’T email me any more about Shrimp Club.

Hey!

I just listened to Amy Porterfield’s interview with Ryan Levesque, who — talking about people’s craving for real, human creative work over AI slop — led with the premise, “It’s never been harder to stand out.”

Beg to differ.

Not with the part about AI slop. When I see it, I can practically smell it. A mix of knockoff cologne, grease trap, and sewage.

The part I disagree with is that AI makes it harder to stand out.

If you’re using it to write for you, or to create your art or branding, sure. You’re going to look and sound like everyone else. Maybe worse. I suppose you could stand out for how egregiously AI-ified your LinkedIn comments are, or how your restaurant’s tuna sandwich looks crocheted.

Yeah, that’ll pop. So unforgettable, it’ll haunt my dreams.

Now, thanks to the slop-splattered landscape, anything real and personal sets you apart like a gold nugget in a cow patty. So if you want to stand out with your own, human-made work, the floor is yours.

Using my original voice and helping my Shrimpers bring out theirs has been my mission since long before Claude, ChatGPT, and friends entered…well, the chat.

Still is.

I’m all about getting paid to be you. And how can you do that if you’re trying to outsource the “you” part?

If you’d like my personal help locking into your voice and getting it on the page so it sounds unmistakably “you,” that’s exactly what you get in Shrimp Club.

Doors close tomorrow (Friday at 6pm ET), so now’s your chance to find out if it’s for you — and join if it is.

We kick off on Tuesday, October 13th, with our welcome party on Zoom.

Check out Shrimp Club and apply here.

Meanwhile, I’ll be over here trying to unsee the tuna sandwich.

Three disturbing AI food images: a tuna sandwich with a spongy, hole-riddled bun and frosting-like piped tuna, shrimp-shaped "donuts" on raw instant ramen, and a fast food burger ad piled with glossy, unidentifiable toppings arranged too perfectly.

Pssst! Today is the LAST DAY to join my 8-month live mentoring party/mastermind Shrimp Club! I may send more emails, so if you’d rather not hear about it, here you go: DON’T email me any more about Shrimp Club. Reader — Were you around for Clubhouse? That platform gave me PTSD. Imagine a swarm of blowhards claiming they were “just here to add value” — and then that “value” was a ten-minute recitation of their CV… …Or a feature-film-length tale of how they were an aimless, dead-broke sad sack...

So Reader — Think you’re “not really a writer”? I’ll bet you’re wrong. I mean, you may not be one at all, or want to write anything more profound than “lol” and “u up?” But if you’re even entertaining the thought “I’m not really a writer,” that tells me you kinda sorta want to be one. Or a better one. And if...
