Cake beard

Hi! I wrote this in advance, so I’ll just assume that when you open it I’ve been having a great birthday.

I’m extra chill, with yesterday’s End-Of-Year Bonus class behind me. It went great — so many excited new Inbox Hero students! I live for messages like these in the chat:

I did make a pretty irresistible offer, gotta say.

So what have I been doing today?

I’m going to guess that I’ve:

  • Stayed in bed for an hour, reading Min Jin Lee’s new book, American Hagwon. So into it.

  • Done my morning session of TM (Transcendental Meditation).

  • Taken at least two long walks, listening to Bitch Sesh (a Real Housewives breakdown podcast) and the audiobook of Courtney Maum’s Alan Opts Out, which I just started and already love.

  • Journaled on 750 Words (still on my streak).

  • Toasted a Bays English muffin — I’ve moved on from Thomas’ — and overloaded it with butter and Bonne Maman strawberry preserves.

  • Hopefully, done some fiction writing and made myself proud for getting the tuchus in the seat. That’s the trick.

  • Posted something about my birthday, wondering why I’m pressuring myself to create “birthday content” when who among us knows how many birthdays we have left, and do we really want to spend this one wild and precious life rearranging the slides of an Instagram carousel?

  • Met two favorite friends for birthday lunch.

  • Done my afternoon TM.

  • Had more favorite friends over for birthday dinner, which will be spaghetti. Because I said so. Steven objected but has agreed to honor my basicness and make it for me.

It may sound like an average day, but it still feels special — even though I didn’t plan right…

Because once again, I blew off the explicit instructions Facebook gave me a week ahead to make the day “extra special.”

What’s wrong with me, Reader? Why didn’t I obscure my lower face with a massive cake beard, as proposed above? My profile pic could’ve spent the week with candles sticking out of its mouth like walrus tusks. What better way to celebrate?

And (facepalm) I didn’t do this, either:

A countdown story! Brilliant! So hundreds of FB friends you’ve never spoken to get swept up in the anticipation like it’s New Year’s Eve or The Rapture — and can’t possibly neglect to post a generic “Happy Birthday!” Then you have to at least heart each one while you wonder why you’re doing so much work on YOUR birthday.

Sigh. Opportunities missed.

Well, you know what? It’s not too late to post a countdown timer.

The fast action bonus for Inbox Hero, my Welcome Sequence Workshop, disappears in:

That’s Saturday, Oct 31, at 11:59 pm ET.

See details and grab it here.

You know what’ll really make my birthday extra special?

If you get Inbox Hero (with the Welcome Sequence Workshop and $2,094 in other bonuses) and then report to me later that it’s changed your life and business.

Happy Birthday to me!

And happy emailing to you.

PS - Fun fact: I first launched Inbox Hero on my 50th birthday. It was a 6-figure launch. To make your next birthday extra special, I suggest making a sweet chunk of change through your emails. Bite me, Facebook.

PPS - I did take one of FB’s suggestions and put up a fundraiser. I chose ACLU, because, y’know, democracy. (The salvation of which would also make a nice, belated birthday prezzie. Vote, y’all.)

I'll be sending lots more emails about Inbox Hero. If you'd rather skip 'em let me know by clicking the link below.

⚠️I DON'T want any more Inbox Hero emails, please remove me! <-- read before you click this.

"Yours are the only emails I actually open and read" - a regular reply in my inbox since 2009...and I'll bet in yours, too, once you subscribe and learn by pure, lazy osmosis to become the most compelling writer around. That said, no promises on improving your moral character.

Reader – Inbox Hero is open! (And the welcome sequence bonus below goes away tonight at 11:59pm ET.) Already have Inbox Hero and/or don't want to hear any more about it this round but want to stay on my list? (Please stay!) --> No thanks. Please DON'T email me anymore about Inbox Hero. You hear all the time about “making money while you sleep.”Like that idea? I do! Yes, it’s a fat, cheesy cliché, but what if it’s true? What if… ...Whether you’re sleeping, ziplining, watching Real Housewives...

Wow, WOW! What a fabulous turnout yesterday for the End-Of-Year Bonus workshop. If you missed any part of it or just want to relive the aha-fest, here’s the limited-time workshop replay. And here’s something else: I announced during the class that I’ve opened a sneaky side door to join my bestselling email copywriting course, Inbox Hero, for an enormous discount! It’s going to help make your emails... ✅ compulsively readable, ✅ powerfully persuasive, ✅ impossible NOT to open, and...best of...

Reader - Don’t want you to miss out on this. At 3:00pm EDT / 12:00pm PDT / 7:00pm GMT today, I’m doing a much-requested presentation of my FREE live email workshop, called: END-OF-YEAR BONUSRake in extra cash before the holidays, from an asset you already own I normally only do this workshop for a good chunk of change, inside high-ticket masterminds or on event stages… …Including one session so packed, they had to call the fire marshal. (For real.) Today, it’s for you, for free. And no line....
